سعت هذه الدراسة لإزاحة الستار وإزالة الأوهام عن بعض الملابسات التي اكتنفت قصة الإيمان بالمهدي وعن ما اعترى البعض من شكوك، وقد تناولت هذه البحوث جملة مواضيع حاولت من خلالها الإطلالة على سيرة الإمام المهدي من الولادة إلى تاريخ ما بعد الظهور، وذلك لينتقل القارئ بذهنه إلى أحداث تلك المرحلة والحقبة الهامة من التاريخ. ولذا كانت أهم فصول هذا الكتاب وأبوابه تتعرض للأمور التالية: في إثبات إمامته ووجوده من الكتاب وبالأخبار من جهة خاصة ومن جهة عامة وهذا ما تناولته الفصول الأربعة. خامساً في ذكر والدته وولادته وما يتعلق بذلك. سادساً: في ذكر غيبته والسبب الموجب لتواريه عن شيعته. سابعاً: في ذكر طول تعميره. ثامناً: افي رواته ووكلائه. تاسعاً: في ذكر توقيعاته على يد رسله وأصحابه وعلى يد سفرائه إلى وكلائه. عاشراً: في ذكر من شاهده من شيعته وحظي برؤيته. وأخيراً: في ذكر علامات ظهوره وما يكون في أيامه.
