«كينونة الشر الكونية» هذا هو الاصطلاح المناسب الذى يمكن أن يعرف به ذلك الكائن غير المنظور الذى ينسب إليه تدبير الشر فى منظومة الخليفة الكونية المعرفية لدى البشر، هؤلاء الذين يعرفون من خلال عدد غير قليل من العقائد الدينية باسم «الشيطان»، وفى صورة هذه العقائد هناك الديانات الإبراهيمية الثلاث (اليهودية، المسيحية، الإسلام). وكان من شأن ما تنسبه هذه العقائد إلى هذا «الكائن الغامض» من مواقف لها تأثيرها الواضح فى منظومة الخليفة: أن يستدعى قريحة المبدعين من البشر فى مجالات الفكر والآداب والفنون المختلفة، ليحتل «الشيطان» جانبا ملحوظا من الإنتاج الإبداعى فى هذه المجالات.
