لقد شغلت الرياضيات قديما وحديثا اهتمام الكثير من العاملين في شؤون التربية والتعليم وتم التركيز عليها من قبل جميع عناصر العملية التربوية لما لهذه المادة من أهمية عظمى في مجالات الحياة المختلفة. وتأتي أهمية حل المسألة في الرياضيات من منطلق حاجات الفرد لمواجهة متطلبات الحياة اليومية حيث أن هناك متغيرات وطبيعة غير ثابتة في الأمور التي تواجه الطالب يوميا ومن هنا لابد للطالب من أن يتعلم استراتيجيات متنوعة لحل المسألة ومن هنا لابد من تطوير قدرات الطلبة على حل المسائل الرياضية. وجاءت فكرة هذا الكتاب كمادة جادة لتقديم كل ما يسهل ويبسط للطلبة المتقدمين لاختبار القدرات لكي يكون الطالب متسلح بكل ما يحتاجه عند دخوله الى هذا الاختبار الذي أصبح يلعب دورا كبيرا في قبول الطالب الجامعي، وحيث ان الجزء الكمي هو الجزء الذي يصعب على الطلبة التعامل معه فخصصت هذا الكتاب الى الجزء الكمي في اختبارات القدرات. وكذلك يخدم هذا الكتاب كل من يريد ان يطور قدراته الرياضية او حتى يستخدم هذا الكتاب من قبل المدرسين كمرجع لهم في تطوير قدرات طلابهم الرياضية حيث تم تقديم هذا الكتاب بكل يسر وسهولة. و يحتوي الكتاب على حوالي 400 مسألة محلولة بالتفصيل موزعة على فصول الكتاب وعلى الطالب بعد ان يطلع على حل المسائل على كل فصل ان يعمل لنفسه اختبار تجريبي في كل فصل حيث يوجد في كل فصل اكثر من خمس اختبارات تجريبية تم اختيارها بعناية وكل طالب عليه ان يحل الاختبار الأول ثم يصحح اخطائه حسب مفتاح الاجابة ثم ينتقل الى الاختبار الذي يليه وهكذا حتى ينهي الاختبارات على كل فصل.
