قصة "أرض الرجال" هي قصة أولئك القوم الذين يعملون على خطوط الطيران، ينقلون الناس والأثقال كل ليلة من قطر قريب إلى قطر بعيد. هي قصة عيشهم وانقطاعهم إلى عملهم، وارتباطهم بالمواعيد ارتباطاً أشبه بالأسر، وركوبهم متن الجو حيث لا مساومة في الأخطاء، فأقل خطأ يرتكبه الطيار معناه الفناء والدمار. "أرض الرجال" هي قصة المغامرين الأوائل الذين كانوا يطيرون في آلات لم تبلغ ما بلغته آلات الطيران الحديثة من الإتقان والأمان. فالإنسان في هذه المرحلة لا يكون قد سيطر على وسائله كل السيطرة، بل هو مسير إلى مجاهل، باذل نفسه في سبيل نفع الإنسانية، أو ما يعتقد أن فيه نفعاً.
