الحمد لله نحمده ونستعينه ونستغفره ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا، ومن سيئات أعمالنا، من يهده الله فلا مضل له، ومن يضلل فلا هادي له، وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأشهد أن محمداً عبده ورسوله. وبعد، فإن من رحمة الله بعباده أن جعلهم شعوباً وقبائل ليتعارفوا، وهيأهم لإقامة العلاقات فيما بينهم على اختلاف أنواعها، حتى تستقيم الحياة وتستمر، إلى أن يأذن الله بانتهائها. ولما كان استمرار الحياة متوقفاً على استمرار النوع الإنساني، من خلال التزاوج بين الناس، فقد حض الإسلام على الزواج، ورغب فيه وقال الرسول : "يا معشر الشباب من استطاع منكم الباءة فليتزوج فإنه أغض للبصر وأحصن للفرج ومن لم يستطع فعليه بالصوم فإنه له وجاء" ونظراً لأهمية هذه العلاقات؛ فقد شرع الله لها نظاماً وأحكاماً، تضبط تصرفات الناس وتوجههم الوجهة السليمة في تحقيقها، ولم يتركها عز وجل للناس، ينظموها حسب أهوائهم ورغباتهم. ولما كانت الحياة الزوجية تعترضها معوقات تجعل استمرارها صعباً أو مستحيلاً، فقد رغبت أن اكتب في موضوع يبرز سمو التشريع الإسلامي في هذا المجال، ويكون ذا صلة وثيقة بواقعنا المعاصر، ويتناسب مع فلسفة برنامج ماجستير الدراسات الإسلامية المعاصرة، وكان أن هداني الله إلى الكتابة في موضوع: "الأمراض الحديثة وأثرها على استمرار الحياة الزوجية".
