في جديدها الشعري "ما تبقى من اللون" تخضع شميسة النعماني نصها لجماليات الشعر الحداثوي ومواصفات قصيدة النثر، إنها تحمل إيقاعاً موسيقياً خاصاً، وهي تتدفق من منهمل الروح، كطائر يحلق عالياً في السماء من دون خوف من السقوط في حفرة من الغيوم "نعاس يغشي الجفن والقلب ناهض/ يموج مع النايات فيك ويسكر/ ويغرق في لذات وجك هائماً/ ويطفو مع الأنداء منك تعطر/ أفردوس هذا العشق تفديك مهجة/ تلملم منك الدفء وهو مبعثر/ وتشهق للأقدار أنك موئل/ يرمم آثام الزمان ويغفر (...)/ فطف كيفما شاءت التي/ تطوف بقدس القلب تنصر". عبر تلك المضامين يبني الشاعر عمارة نصها من منطلق مشاعرها ومعايشاتها وانفعالاتها وأحلامها، فتختزل الألفاظ لتخلق منها صورها المقصودة، وبطريقتها الفنية الجميلة، وكأنها تستنبط مجازات لغوية جديدة بتوليدها إياها بغية توسيع محدودية التعبير اللغوي بما لم يكن مألوفاً في استعمالات اللغة العادية، وبذلك ترتفع الشاعرة إلى مصاف التجديد والتمييز في أسلوب اللغة الشعرية الباعث للدهشة وبفكر تأملي نادر الإستعمال نقرأ لها قصيدة بعنوان (صورة) "صورة نحن/ وهل ما زال في الأكوان أصل!/ نحن أشباه وتكرار ومثل/ يومنا منذ ابتداء الدهر ساعات/ وأقوال وأحلام وفعل/ والروابي منذ نور الشمس فصل/ ولكم يتلوه فصل!/ روح هابيلٍ ستدمى كلما يمتد فصل (...)".
يضم الكتاب (26) قصيدة نثرية جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "دندنة"، "صورة"، "وداعية عاشقين"، "طواف"، "هلا تخبئني؟"، "كوم خرافي"، "إني كتبتك وانتهى" (...) وقصائد أخرى.
