في كتابها هذا تعود راكوزا بذكرياتها إلى طفولتها، وتعرض من خلال ذكرياتها لمرحلة ما بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية في وسط أوروبا المنقسمة إلى شرق وغرب، حيث قضت طفولتها متنقلة بين بودابست، ليوبليانا، تريست وزيوريخ. في ثلوج سويسرا وصقيعها تعاني الفتاة مع أبويها اللاجئين - وهي ابنة الهنغاري والسلوفينية- إلى غرب أوروبا بعد انهيار أحلامهما في شمال شرقها، فقد هاجروا كثيراً وتنقلوا من سكن إلى سكن آخر، كما عانوا من شكوك الغربيين والاستهانة بهم، إلا أن الفتاة شيئاً فشيئاً تتأقلم مع الواقع الجديد، أو بالأحرى ترغم نفسها على التأقلم معه، دون أن تنسى أصولها وجذورها التي تشتاق إليها من دفء الجو، وحميمية العلاقات الاجتماعية، والبحر الواسع. الشاعرة وعازفة البيانو الماهرة تنقل فؤادها بين جهات الأرض الأربع، لكن حبها يبقى للشرق الرحب كبحر وأكثر، فكلما تذكرت أمراً، تداعت في خيالها صور أكثر جمالاً، فترحل كالبدوي من ذكرى لذكرى، حيث قضت أياماً لا تنسى في بلغاريا وإيطاليا وفرنسا وروسيا وإيران وجمهوريات الاتحاد السوفياتي السابق، ولهذا تأتي نصوصها القصيرة مثل ومضات شعرية تعكس إحساسها المرهف بالأمكنة دون أن تغفل الكتب التي تأثرت بها منذ طفولتها وعلاقاتها الغرامية وعشقها الأكبر "البحر" . الكتاب بحر مليء بالألوان والصور والأصوات واللغات التي تعودت الكاتبة منذ طفولتها الاستماع إليها دون أن تستوعبها، لأنها تفهمها من نغمتها، كمخارج الحروف العربية، التي تجدها جميلة رغم صعوبة التلفظ بها، إن هذه التجربة الخلابة في الكتابة تأسر القارئ وتدعوه إلى التأمل في حياته الخاصة ليكتشف فيها الجميل رغم كل متاعبها.
