رفيق حبيب هو مفكر مصري مسيحي من مواليد القاهرة سبتمبر 1959م، ينتسب إلى الطائفة الإنجيلية وهو نائب رئيس حزب الحرية والعدالة المنبثق من جماعة الإخوان المسلمين. يعد أحد المفكرين المعتدلين في مصر.
حصل رفيق على درجة ماجستير في الآداب تخصص علم نفس من كلية الآداب بجامعة عين شمس في 1985، ثم درجة دكتوراه الفلسفة في الآداب تخصص علم نفس اجتماعي من ذات الجامعة في 1988.
عين مستشارا في الفريق الرئاسي لمحمد مرسي واعتزل العمل السياسي احتجاجا على موقعة الاتحادية

"تعيش مصر مخاضًا صعبًا، تشتبك فيه قوى متعددة، داخلية وإقليمية وعالمية. فوصول التيار الإسلامى بمشروعه الحضارى للحكم، يثير ردود فعل عديدة، تتراوح بين الترحيب والتأييد من الغالبية الكبرى للشعوب العربية، إلى رفض من بعض الأقليات بها، إلى عداء وحرب غير معلنة من قوى خارجية ترى فى نجاح المشروع خصمًا من هيمنتها الثقافية والمالية والاقتصادية والسياسية وغيرها. وكثير مما يُقال فى مصر الآن ضد المشروع الإسلامى، قيل فى تركيا ضد حزب العدالة والتنمية. وأكثر ما يعتمد عليه المناهضون والمعادون للمشروع الإسلامى حجة تقدم الغرب العلمانى، ولا يبحثون كيف هيمن الغرب؟ وهل هو علمانى؟ بل ما هى العلمانية؟ وفى أى سياق من تاريخ الكنيسة الكاثوليكية ظهرت؟ وما تأثير ونفوذ الدين فى الولايات المتحدة؟ وذلك بعد غض البصر عن إسرائيل!. ويناقش هذا الكتاب المواجهة الحالية بين أصحاب المشروع الإسلامى للدولة والنموذج الغربى لها؛ وهى مواجهة تأخذ أهمية أكبر بعد ربيع الثورات العربية، ومع صعود التيار الإسلامى سياسيًّا، وما قد يترتب عليه من تغيير فى المنطقة العربية والإسلامية. فهل ينجح المشروع الإسلامى فى مصر؟ فتتبعه دول عربية وإسلامية أخرى؟ أم تفشل التجربة، فتجهض الفكرة لعدة عقود؟ ".
