في هذا الكتاب :- قصة (يوسف) منذ نعومة أظافره، حتى امتزج بأطياف الشر وتغلغل بها، وبدت تظهر على محياه، وهناك صديقه الذي يرافقه يتعجب من الشر الذي بداخل يوسف ثم يكتشف وجود الشر به ايضاً ولا يشعر به مثل ما يشعر يوسف. وترافقهما (هند) التي يقتاتون لضميرهم من نور الحب. كل ما تقصه هذه الروايه صراع الضمير ومراحل قوته وضعفه ومن يهتم لشأنه ومن لا يشعر به، وقد يصل الصراع الى اعلى نقاط قوته (السلام) أو ينجرف تائهاً الى اسفل القاع.
