وهل توجد مستشفى للأمراض العقلية قريبة من النهر والجزيرة؟! بان الخوف على وجه الضابط، يبدو صدق أنني مجنون، سألني عن السبب، فقلت له أنني على موعد مع النهر ومحبوبتي من أجل خير البلاد، قال لي بلهجة لا تخلو من الإنسانية لا توجد مستشفى أمراض عقلية هنا، إنه توجد مستشفى أمراض عقلية وحيدة في العباسية، وعلي أن استعد من الآن للرحيل إليها، نظرت من النافذة، لم يكن في ذهني ذكريات سعيدة حتى أستعيدها، كنت أبحث عن النهر والجزيرة، هل يمكن رؤيتها من هذا المكان، يبدو أن الضابط تصور أنني أفكر في الهروب فقال لي، عرضت عليك المشي أكثر من مرة قبل أن تصبح الحكاية جداً، لم يدرك الضابط، أنني كنت أبحث عن النيل وعن جزيرة محبوبين، ولكن النيل بعيد جدا". عندما يصحو المواطن على كابوس البنادق والسجون، يضحي الوطن حلماً وتضحي صورته بعيدة كومضات تضيء الروح على أمل في لقاء موعود
