يقول راجى غفران المساوى، المفتقر لرحمة به محمد الزهرى الغمراوى: عرض على أن أضع شرحآ لطيفآ على متن العمدة للإمام الكامل والملاذ الفاضل العلامة شهاب الدين أبى العباس أحمد بن النقيب المصري المولود بالقاهرة سنة اثنتين وسبعمائة، والمتوفى بها سنة تسع وستين وسبعمائة - رحمه الله وأثابه رضاه يتمم مفاده ويفصح عن غامض عباراته حتى يبين مراده بعبارات واضحة ومقالات سلسة للأذهان فاتحة، يجمع زبدة الفقة من غير اعتساف، ويتم به لزهر روض هذا الكتاب الاقتطاف، منبهآ عما خالف فيه اعتماد المتأخرين، ومبينآ فى مسائلة فتوى المرجحين، فأجبت هذا الطلب، لعلمى أن هذا الكتاب من أحسن الكتب، وصاحبه من علية ذوى الفضل الكبير، وله فى كتب طبقات المذهب الثناء العطر والقدر الشهير، وقلت: لعلى أن يعود على من بركات أنفاسه ما يجعلنى عند الله مقبولآ، وأن يحقق لى من فضله منهلآ عذبآ ومدخلآ مأمولآ، وسميته: (أنوار المسالك، شرح: عندة السالك وعدة الناسك).
