عِلمُ العَدَدِ أَحَدُ عُلومِ القُرآنِ الكَريمِ ، وَهُوَ يُعْنَى بِعَدِّ آياتِ كُلِ سورَةٍ ، وإحصاءِ كَلِماتِهاْ وَحُروفِهاْ ، كَما يُعْنَى بتَقسيمِ القُرآنِ إلى أجزاءٍ ، والأجزاءِ إلى أَحزابٍ ، وكانَتْ لِعُلَماءِ القُرآنِ الكَريمِ جهودٌ كَبيرَةٌ في هذا العِلمِ ، وكِتابُ (البيان) للداني مِن أَشهَرِ كُتُبِ هذا العِلمِ ، وتمتازُ هذهِ الطَبعةُ منَ الكِتابِ بمِيِزَتَين ،
الأولى : إثباتُ الزياداتِ الَتي زادَها المُؤلفُ على أصْلِ الكِتَابِ ،
والثانية : الرُجوعُ إلى مَخطوطاتٍ جَديدةٍ لم يُعتَمَدْ عَليهاْ في الطَبعةِ الأولى للكِتابِ ، إلى جانبِ الإخراجِ المُتَميزِ لهذِهِ الطبعةِ .
