"يقدم هذا الكتاب مقارنة واضحة بين التأمين التكافلي أو الصيغة الإسلامية من عقد التأمين، وبين التأمين التقليدي. كما يوضح الكتاب أيضاً وجوه الخلل والانحراف عن المبادئ الإسلامية في عقود التأمين التقليدية، وهو بذلك يجادل لصالح التأمين التكافلي أو التأمين الممتثل لأحكام الشريعة الإسلامية. إضافة إلى ذلك، فإن الكتاب يستعرض عدداً من الفتاوى الخاصة بموضوع التأمين من قبل عدد من أبرز الفقهاء المسلمين وتتراوح هذه الفتاوى بين التحريم الكلي للتأمين التقليدي والتحريم الجزئي علماً بأن هناك فتاوى تحلّل التأمين التقليدي. يندرج هذا الكتاب في مشروع سدّ الثغرة الموجودة في مكتبة التأمين العربية: فالمكتبة العربية تعاني شحاً في المصادر المتخصصة في موضوع التأمين التقليدي والتأمين التكافلي على حدٍ سواء. ومن خلال ترجمة هذا الكتاب يسعى المترجم إلى إذكاء روح النقاش حول موضوع التأمين التكافلي أو الإسلامي مع مقارنته بالتأمين التقليدي. ينقسم هذا العمل إلى ثلاثة أقسام. يعالج القسم الأول، موضوع التأمين، منشأه وطبيعته وتطوره. ويعالج القسم الثاني، الشريعة الإسلامية، وبخاصة ما له علاقة بالمعاملات التجارية. ويقدّم القسم الثالث، ملخصاً للحجج الداعمة للتأمين التكافلي، وتقييماً لعقد التأمين الحديث على ضوء الشريعة الإسلامية وحسنات التأمين التكافلي".
