نبذة النيل والفرات: امري سليم فنان أحب عدسته التي رافقته لأكثر من (65) عاماً، فكانت له نعم الصاحب والحبيب والقلم والدفتر والذاكرة، دونت بصدق وأمانة تاريخ العراق وصورت حياة العراقيين، بكدها وكدحها، بحزنها وفرحها، باحتفالاتها وأعيادها وبكل جميل فيها، والفنان الحاج امري ذواق لماح اقتنص من الحياة كل لقطة جميلة معبرة، حتى اجتمع له أكثر من مليون ونصف المليون لقطة رائعة، كانت توثيقاً صادقاً وأميناً لحياتنا بخيرها وشرها وزهورها وكدرها، لا يحتاج رائها لمن يشرح له ظروفها وأحداثها إذ يكفي عرضها دون التعليق عليها لنرى فيها صورة صادقة لحياتنا، كل حياتنا، ولو طرحنا منها ما طرحنا لظل في الباقي ما يكفي ويشرف، والأستاذ إمري رافق عدسته أكثر من مرافقته أولاده، فهي لا تنفك تصاحبه في حله وترحاله، فصور بها اللحظات الدقيقة والصور الذكية، حتى اجتمع عنده هذا الكم من الصور دون رتوش أو تصرف فيها أو تلاعب. ومنها تم اختيار هذه المجموعة من الصور الفوتوغرافية لعهد الجمهورية العراقية الأولى خلال الفترة التي حكم بها الزعيم عبد الكريم قاسم، لتسهم في توثيق تلك الحقبة من تاريخنا المعاصر، توثيقاً صادقاً، ذكياً محايداً، وهي مما لا يستغني عنها القارئ والمواطن العادي ومن أدرك تلك الحقبة الطيبة من تاريخ العراق، يستذكر بها أيامها وقد رأى في ما بعدها ما رأى. وهي وغيرها تتوجه للمواطن العربي والعراقي والقارئ والباحث تحت سلسلة "العراق بعدسة إمري سليم"، لعلها تفصح عن صفحة من تاريخ العراق المعاصر وتسلط الضوء على جانب من جوانب تاريخه تنور القارئ والباحث، بل لعلها تضمن حق الرجل الفنان الذي سطا الكثيرون على جهده، فنشروه في الصحف والمجلات دون أية إشارة له، أو اعتراف بحقه، وهو الذي لم يبخل يوماً بصوره.
