من ميزات الكتابة الساخرة، أنها تلامس الحقيقة بخفة، وتستطيع إيصال الفكر مع بسمة وهذا أجدى وأفعل من طرقها مع دمعه، وهكذا فعل الكاتب السعودي "جاسم علي الجاسم" عندما صاغ حكاياته المتعددة، التي يمكن أن تقرأ منفصلة، في الوقت الذي لا يمكن أن تقرأ متصلة، لأنها تسلك خطوة فخطوة الذات الإنسانية تقترب منها وتكشف عن ارتحالاتها وأحلامها، في الوقت الذي تصورها في تفاعلها مع محيطها اليومي. على الرغم من أن "شيطان الحب" هي المجموعة القصصية الأولى للكاتب، إلا أنه استطاع أن يكون خير معبر عن تناقضات الحياة الاجتماعية، وخير ناقد لها، فكانت شهادة جديدة على اجتهاد روائي موهوب يكتب بأمانة وحس نقدب جذري للواقع المعاش والتعليق عليه كقصة "فتات الخبز" على سبيل المثال التي تكشف عن هوَة طبيعيَة واسعة في المملكة بين الأغنياء والفقراء، فالطالبة "عفاف" تلتقط فتات الخبز التي يتركها الطلاب زملاءها وتعود بها إلى أسرتها الفقيرة لسد رمقهم من الجوع، مع أن هناك من يطعم "الحيوانات ما لذ وطاب، وهناك من يأكل الفتات ويشرب الألم". وهكذا في بقية قصص المجموعة التي يكشف لنا الكاتب في كل واحدة منها واقعاً جديداً تختبئ في تلاوينه حقيقة ما. من عناوين الكتاب نذكر: "التحدي"، "فتات الخبز"، "سذاجة رجل"، "زواج الـ (chat)، "شيطان الحب"، "الزبالة"، "طفل الحب"... الخ.
