حقق رشدي راشد كتب علماء العرب الرياضيين وترجم المخطوطات العربية إلى الفرنسية وشرحها تاريخيًا وفلسفيًا ورياضيًا وعلق عليها . كما أعاد إحياء تراث ابن الهيثم والخوارزمي والكِندي وعمر الخيام والسموأل وقدم عنهم حقائق تاريخية لم تكن معروفة من قبل.

يقدّم رشدي راشد لقرّاء العربية، كتاب محمد بن موسى الخوارزمي "كتاب الجبر والمقابلة"، الذي يتألف من قسمين رئيسيين؛ يحوي الأول منهما النظرية الجبرية، وهو مخصّص لنظرية المعادلات والحسابات الجبرية، ولحل المسائل المختلفة بواسطة هذه النظرية، وتطبيقها على المسائل الهندسية؛ ويحوي الثاني مسائل الإرث والوصايا، ففي فصوله يطبّق الخوارزمي الحساب الجبري على حلّ مسائل تنتمي إلى هذا المجال الفقهي ، بحسب قواعد الشرع الإسلامي، فيعطي بعمله هذا وضعاً رياضياً – جبرياً – لحساب كان يقوم به من قبله رجال الفقه. لقد وضع الخوارزمي، في هذا الكتاب، أول عمل تأسيسي للجبر، حيث أصبح الجبر مادة رياضية مستقلة عن الهندسة وعن علم الحساب، وهو أول عمل تأسيسي لمادة علمية هي على ملتقى الرياضيات والعلوم الفقهية، كما أنه عمل تأسيسي لنهج ولّدته الإمكانات الجديدة التي طرحها الجبر، والتي تلازمت معه؛ حيث أجاز توسّع تطبيق العلوم الرياضية، بعضها على البعض الآخر. وقد صُمّم هذا الكتاب وحُقّق وتُرجم لكي يكون لَبِنَة في صرح كتابة تاريخ العلم العربي، بشكل موثق توثيقاً كاملاً، ويمثل إضافة نوعية ومميّزة لأعمال رشدي راشد، في سلسلة تاريخ العلوم العربية.
