لست أدري على وجه الدقة سبب الشعور الغريب الذي راودني ويمتزج فيه بعض من الشجن الشخصي.. هل لأنني أكتب مشوار حياتي.. أم لأن التشبث بالكتابة عن البدايات معناه في نهاية الأمر الوصول إلى شاطئ النهايات؟ هل لأنني كبرت إلى حد أصبح عندي فيه شيء أقوله للناس، وماذا يهم الناس من أمري..؟ هل من المهم أن أترك شيئًا لجيل من بعدي قد يستفيد منه أو يشعر بما كنت أعانيه؟ لكنني أعتقد أن حياتي لم تكن على الإطلاق نزهة نيلية.. أو مجرد خلوة في ضوء القمر.. أو موعدًا للغرام مع حبيبة.. لم تكن مجرد قطار يسير في مروج خضارء.. أو رحلة بالطائرة إلى عواصم العالم أتنزه فيها كما أشاء.. حياتي لم يكن فيها هذا الجانب من الرفاهية أو الشعور بالرغبة في الحياة أكثر.. لكني أشهد أنني لم أقدم في حياتي على تفكير أسود في الانتحار مهما كان ما حولي قاتمًا.. ربما لأن نصف وزني إيمان، وأنا كمصري قبطي تعلمت في مدرسة مسيحية كيف لا أؤذي.. وكيف أقابل الأذى بدرجة كبيرة من السماح، ولا أجري كثيرًا وراء المال؛ لأنني أدرك أن المال القليل يطرح فيه الله الكثير.
