كاتب ومفكر بحريني، أستاذ دراسات الحضارة الإسلامية والفكر المعاصر، وعميد كلية الدراسات العليا في جامعة الخليج في البحرين وعضو المجلس الوطني للثقافة والآداب والفنون في البحرين.
- ولد في البحرين عام 1939، تعلم في البحرين إلي حين إنهائه لدراسته الثانوية من بعدها انتقل للتعلم في الجامعة الأمريكية في بيروت حتى نال منها: • بكالوريوس آداب عام 1963م • ماجستير في الأدب الأندلسي عام 1966م • الدكتوراة في الفلسفة الإسلامية الحديثة والمعاصرة عام 1979م -بالإضافة لذلك تابع تعليمه وحضوره للدورات الدراسية في عدد من الجامعات المرموقة في العالم ك جامعة كامبردج.
في عام 1982 توجه إلي فرنسا لدراسة الثقافة الفرنسية في جامعة السربون بباريس.
- حياته المهنية:- • رئيس الإعلام وعضو مجلس الدولة في البحرين 1969-1971.
• من مؤسسي أسرة الأدباء والكتاب بالبحرين وأول رئيس لها سنة 1969.
• حاز على جائزة الدولة التقديرية في البحرين، وجائزة سلطان العويس في الدراسات القومية والمستقبلية وجائزة منيف الرزاز للدراسات والفكر.
- كتب في شؤون الخليج السياسية والثقافية في الصحف والدوريات العربية منها مجلة صحيفة الدوحة القطرية ومجلة العربي الكويتية.

عندما تجاوز ابن خلدون في مقاربته للتاريخ الفهم الرومانسي العجائبي الذي مازال يطبع العقلية العربية، فإنه قارب السنن والقوانين الثابتة والفاعلة في حركة العالم بين ماضٍ وحاضر. (ولن تجد لسنة الله تبديلا.. ) هكذا فإن فهم التاريخ في إطار العقلانية الخلدونية يعني اكتساب قدرة أفضل على فهم العالم الذي لم يتكيف العرب معه.. بعد. فما زالوا يتعاملون كارثياً ، مع واقع العالم شعراً .. وهذا ينقلنا إلى المحور الثاني في نطاق هذه الدعوة لإعادة تأسيس الثقافة العربية فالشعر ديوان العرب، ولكن النثر لغة العصر. ولا جدال في أن الشعر حاجة إنسانية، وجدانية وجمالية، وهذه ليست دعوة لطمسه. لكنها دعوة إلى إعادة التوازن في ثقافتنا بين الوجدان والعقل. ولم تعدم العربية نثراً فكرياً راقياً تعد مقدمة ابن خلدون أبرز نماذجه إلى جانب كتابات الجاحظ والتوحيدي والفارابي وابن طفيل وابن حزم.. إلخ. وعليه فإن تأسيس نثر عربي حديث يستمد منه الشعر العربي المعاصر لغته الحية من شأنه أن يحرر الجانبين من مأزق " قصيدة النثر " التي وصلت إلى طريق مسدود . واللافت أن شعراء بارزين كأدونيس وغازي القصيبي وأحمد عبد المعطي حجازي يعبرون اليوم نثراً عن أعمق مكنونهم ..
