كان لنزول القرآن، عندما أشرقت سمش الإسلام، أثراً كبيراً في دفع اليهود والنصارى إلى غربلة كتبهم، وجمعها، وإخراجها من الدفائن إلى الملأ العام. مستعيدين من ذكر القرآن وثنائه على التوراة والإنجيل الحقيقيين، كبير الفائدة، فوظفوا جميع طاقاتهن لجعل كتبهم بمنزلة القرآن في القداسة والصيانة من التحريف والزيادة والنقصان.
والمسلمون وإن كانوا يعتقدون بأن التوراة الرائجة، والإنجيل المتداولة، لا تمت إلى الوحي بصلة، إلا أن أذهانهم أنست بأسماء هذه الكتب، لأنها في الظاهر تتحدث عن الله، وعن الأنبياء الذين ذكرهم القرآن. ولم يدر في خلد علماء الإسلام، بأن الإله الذي تتحدث عنه التوراة ليس هو الله الذي لا إله هو عالم الغيب والشهادة الذي لا تدركه الأبصار وهو يدرك الأبصار، والذي نؤمن به ونعبده. وكذلك الأشخاص الذين تذكر التوراة أسماءهم، وهم ليسوا أنبياء، وإن شابهت أسماؤهم أسماء أنبياء القرآن.
واليوم وبعد أن خطت البشرية شوطاً كبيراً من ميادين العمل، أثبتت الاكتشافات الأثرية، والدراسات العلمية بأن (الكتاب المقدس) ليس هو من كتب الوحي، وإنما هو من كتابات أشخاص مجهولين، وهذه الحقيقة صرح بها كبار رجال الدين من اليهود والنصارى، فضلاً عن المفكرين والعلماء العلمانيين. وهم متفقون على أن التوراة كتبت بعد موسى بعدة قرون.
وفي هذا الكتاب دراسة تنطوي على مقارنات بين الكتب السماوية الثلاث "التوراة، الإنجيل، القرآن" في محاولة لتتبع آثار اللغط في كتابات للتوراة والإنجيل، ومقارنتها بما جاء في القرآن الكريم الذي لا يأتيه الباطل من بينه ولا من خلفه.
