نظرا لما تتسم به مشكلة المخدرات من التشعيب والتعقيد والأضرار الفادحة بالحياة الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والصحية والأمنية، فهي آفة خطيرة تقوض مقومات المجتمع وتنخره من الداخل، وتهدد حياة الشباب بالتشرد والضياع، فقد أولت العديد من الدول الاهتمام كله في مجال الوقاية والإرشاد للوقاية من المخدرات بالإضافة إلى مكافحتها وعلاج من زلقت أقدامهم قصدا أو غير قصد في تعاطي المخدرات. وانطلاقا من أن الوقاية من المخدرات خير ألف مرة من العلاج، يأتي كتاب "الوقاية من المخدرات" ليستفيد منه ويفيد منه الشاب والشابة، الأب والأم، المعلم والمعلمة، وكل مرب وعضو غيور على أن يرى مجتمعنا خاليا من وباء المخدرات. ويتضمّن هذا الكتاب أحد عشر فصلا، وهي: الأول - تعريف بالمخدرات وأضرارها. الثاني - الخصائص النمائية للنمو. الثالث - تعاطي المخدرات ، نظريات تفسر التعاطي، أسباب التعاطي. الرابع - الآثار الناجمة عن تعاطي المخدرات. الخامس - المسؤوليات والواجبات في التصدي للمخدرات. السادس - أخطاء شائعة في مجال الوقاية من المخدرات والعلاج منها. السابع - اتجاهات حديثة للوقاية وخفض التعاطي والعلاج من المخدرات. الثامن - التسهيلات الحكومية في مجال الوقاية من المخدرات والتعافي منها. التاسع - دور البحث العلمي في الوقاية من المخدرات والعلاج منها. العاشر - مراحل بناء برنامج تثقيفي حول الوقاية من المخدرات. الحادي عشر - أ) نموذج برنامج تثقيفي حول الوقاية من المخدرات. ب) دراسة حالة للعلاج من المخدرات. والمتأمل للفصول السابقة يدرك التناغم بينها، فالفصل الأول ينطلق من التعريف بالمخدرات وأضرارها حتى لا يقع المرء فريسة لها عن طريق رفاق السوء، أما بقية الفصول فكل فصل امتداد لما قبله ومطلب رئيس لما بعده، حيث توج الفصل الأخير ببرنامج تثقيفي مقترح حول الوقاية من المخدرات، ونموذج آخر لدراسة حالة للعلاج؛ وبذا يكتمل العقد وتعمّ الفائدة بإذن الله تعالى.
