هذا الكتاب هو محاولة لإثبات أن فلسفة "كانط ميتافيزيقية" أصيلة تبحث في نفس المباحث الميتافيزيقية التقليدية انطلاقاً من فهم كانط للميتافيزيقية بأنها العلم "الذي يتجاوز كل موضوعات التجربة الممكنة ليعرف ما لا يمكن أن يعرفه من خلال الموضوع" وذلك العلم الذي يؤسس "المعارف العقلية الأولية الخالصة" وإذا كانت فلسفة كانط قد خضعت لتأويلات عدة فاعتبرت في ألمانيا "نظرية في المعرفة" وأولتها مدرسة ماربورغ على أنها مثالية خالصة واعتبرتها الوضعية المنطقية "فلسفة تحليلية" فإن الكتاب سيحاول قراءة فلسفة كانت على أنها معنية بالبحث في الوجود بما هو موجود والبحث في المبادئ والعلل الأولى وتأتي هذه المحاولة استكمالاً لقراءة هيدغر فلسفة كانط عى أنها فلسفة معنية بالبحث في الموجود والوجود.
