هنري مورجنثاو سفير الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية في الآستانة منذ نوفمبر 1913 م، وكتابه الأشهر "قصة السفير مورجنثاو" كان أول الأناجيل الأربعة للقضية الأرمنية )مع القس الألماني ليبسوس،واللورد الإنجليزي برايس، وضابط المخابرات أرنولد توينبي(وادعاءات المذابح، التي تعرضوا لها في الدولة العثمانية. كما كان الكتاب أقوى وسائل البروباجندا التي اعتمد عليها الرئيس الأمريكي لكسب تأييد الرأي العام الأمريكي؛ لخوض الحرب العالمية الأولى حتى النصر. ولكن لنا أن نتساءل: ما القصة التي وراء "قصة السفير مورجنثاو"؟ ولماذا كُتب هذا الكتاب؟ ومن الذي كتب هذه "القصة"؟ وما الهدف منها؟ والذي يجيب هو الأوراق الحقيقية التي تركها مورجنثاو في مكتبة الكونجرس بواشنطن في قسم المخطوطات، تحت عنوان "أوراق هنري مورجنثاو"، وهي قرابة 30000مقالة، ضمَّنها مراسلاته مع صديقه الرئيس الأمريكي وودرو ولسن، وكذلك "اليوميات"، والخطابات العائلية والبرقيات التي بعثها، والتقارير المقدمة إلى وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية خلال فترة الستة والعشرين شه را، التي أقامها في تركيا. هذه الأوراق وحدهاهي القصة الحقيقية للسفير مورجنثاو، والتي تفند أكاذيبه حول المسئولين العثمانيين، وادَّعاءات المذابح التي تعرض لها الأرمن. وهو ما يفاجئك في كتابنا هذا؛ لتعيد التفكير في المسألة بعد انقلاب الحقائق.
