جولة في رحاب التاريخ تعود بنا إلى اكثر من قرنين ونصف القرن لنلتقي بمؤسس أسرة البوسعيد التى ينتمي إليها السلطان قابوس بن سعيد حاكم سلطنة عمان وبذلك تعتبر اقدم اسرة عربية حاكمة دون انقطاع. كان منها فرع يحكم جزيرة زنجبار - وبعض اجزاء من ساحل افريقيا الشرقي في بعض الفترات - حتى عام 1964. وكان من ابرز حكام هذه الاسرة نعلى ارض عمان ثلاثة: مؤسسها الإمام احمد بن سعيد (1741- 1783) والسيد سعيد بن سلطان بن احمد (1804- 1856) مؤسس الإمبراطوؤية العمانية ومعاصر محمد على باشا والى مصر والسطان قابوس بن سعيد بن تميور قائد النهضة العمانية الحديثة منذ عام 1970. وتقوم فلسفة هذا التاريخ عند يوسف الشاورني نعلى ان الثنائيات وبسبب الأوضاع والعوامل الجغرافية - هى مفتاح التاريخ العماني فثنائيات البر والبحر الساحل والداخل الشمال والجنوب القديم والحديث هى سبب حيويته حينا عندما تتحد وعمقه حينا اخر حين تختلف، ازدهاره حينا وانكمائه حينا اخر وصفحات هذا الكتاب برهان على ذلك.
