بدأت رحلتى مع القراءة فى سن مبكرة جداً , فلقد نشأت فى بيت به مكتبة رائعة لما تحويه من آفاق شاسعة للعلم والمعرفة , وكثيراً ما كانت تنتابنى الدهشة عندما أجد والدى – رحمه الله – يقرأ ويفهم ويكتب ملاحظات ويضع خطوط تحت بعض السطور فى هذه الكتب والمراجع .. فبعد قراءة ما يقراءه الاطفال من كتب ومجلات دورية بدأت بيد مرتعشة أمسك أسهل كتاب وكان قصة الفلسفة الحديثة , .. وجدت أسلوباً رشيقاً من أحمد أمين وزكى نجيب محمود مما شجعنى على قراءة قصة الفلسفة اليونانية , فتكونت لدى ملكة التفكير المنطقى .. كانت البداية بإلاحساس التام بما للكتاب من قيمة حقيقية , بدأ الانطلاق مع عمالقة الفكر على سبيل المثال لا الحصر بوريس باسترناك و ديستوفسكى و تولوستوى وتشيكوف وسومرست موم وألكساندر دوماس وإرنست هيمنجواى و بيرل بك و وليم جيمس و بعد ذلك كتب شاكسبير وجول فيرن ثم بدأت مع أروع الكتب لكل من طه حسين ويحيى حقى وعباس العقاد ويوسف إدريس ونجيب محفوظ و محمد حسين هيكل , وبعد ذلك مرحلة روائع المسرح العالمى لأوسكار وايلد وفريدريك دورنمات وتنيسى وليامز وهنريك إبسن وآرثر ميللر وبرنارد شو ويوجين أونيل وبعد ذلك كانت الكتب الدينية والشعر بمختلف ألوانه.
