تسعى هذه الدراسة لتحقيق هدفين اثنين: الأول: أن تسهم بتوضيح بعض المفاهيم اللسانية العربية لتصبَّ في المعرفة الواسعة للنظرية اللسانية الغربيّة؛ والثاني: أن تطبق بعض التقنيات اللسانية الحديثة الغربيّة على التراكيب الأساسية في اللغة العربية؛ وتعدّ هذه الدراسة من خلال تحقيق هدفين محاولة لتقديم تحليل لساني حديث ودقيق للتراكيب الأساسية في اللغة العربية، وفي الوقت نفسه، تسعى لتوسيع النظرية العامة للتراكيب الأساسية في النحو العالمي.
ويستمد هذا العمل إطاره النظري من ثلاثة مصادر: المصدر الأول: نظرية القواعد التوليدية والتحويلية التي وضعها عالمُ اللسانيات الأمريكي نوم تشومسكي، والمصدر الثاني النظرية الدلالية التي وضعها عالم اللسانيات الأمريكي ولتركوك، والمصدر الثالث النظرية العربية اللغوية التي وضعها العربُ القدامى في القرن الثامن الميلادي، وهكذا فإنَّ الإطارَ الجديد للنظرية اللسانية الحديثة سيطبق على التراكيب العربية التالية: "التراكيب الفعلية"، "التراكيب الإسمية"، "التراكيب الإستفهامية".
إنَّ هذه الدراسةَ قد استقصت المكونات التوليدية المركبيّة والتحويلية معاً، وقد وصفت عملياتها المقيدة والمطلقة وحاولت إقتراح بعض الضوابط التي تضبط هذه المكونات وتضبط القواعد العاملة فيها.
إنَّ هذه المكونات وضوابطها لا يمكن أنْ تصاغَ إلاّ إذا فهمنا التراكيب العربية في ضوء التطورات الحديثة للنظرية اللسانية.
وأخيراً فإنَّ هذه الدراسةَ تقدِّم بعضَ المضامين النظرية للغة العربية وللنظرية اللسانية في النحو العالمي، وهكذا فإنَّ هذه الدراسة، ستبيِّن بأنَّ اللغة العربية يمكن دراستُها ضمن إطار نظرية النحو العالمي، ولكنْ بشرط أنْ يراعي الباحثُ المزايا اللغوية المحدَّدة التي تسمُ اللغة العربية وحدَها.
