في هذا الكتاب مجموعة مقالات وأبحاث وندوات ومحاضرات كتبها المؤلف وألقاها منذ ثمانينيات القرن الماضي حتى تاريخ كتابة هذه السطور. وتتناول نقاشات أدبية بين أجيال متفاوتة عمرياً وفكرياً وتنتمي إلى مدارس أدبية ونقدية مختلفة كان المؤلف فيها عارضاً ومشاركاً وموجهاً وناقداً ودارساً ومستشرفاً. ونقرأ كذلك دراسات عن الأدب العماني نثره وشعره، قديمه وحديثه بدءاً من القصص والروايات وصولاً إلى المقامات. وبدءاً من الشعر الحديث إلى الحرّ، ثم العروضي الكلاسيكي وصولاً إلى ما قبل الإسلام. ويعطي على ذلك أسماء ونماذج ونصوصاً. وإذ يشير المؤلف إلى ندرة الإشارات في كتب الأدب قديمها وحديثها إلى الإسهامات العمانية الكثيرة والمهمة يعدد الكثير من الأسماء والنتاجات في غير مجال. داعياً الأجيال الحديثة من الأدباء العمانيين إلى الانخراط أكثر والتواصل مع مراكز النشر والإعلام العربية في أكثر من بلد حتى لا يغمط الأدباء العمانيون حقهم في الانتشار والتفاعل وهم جديرون وكثر الآن كما في سالف العصور. الكتاب للقارئ العادي كما هو للباحث والأديب الناقد. وهو غنيّ بالأسماء والنماذج الأدبية الشهيرة وتلك التي لم تأخذ حقها من الشهرة.
