عمل ما يزيد عن عشرين سنة صحافياً وكاتباً في صحف نمساوية مرموقة، قبل أن يتفرغ للكتابة الروائية بشكل نهائي.
صدرت له عدة كتب روائية وغير روائية.
حققت روايته "نَسِيم الصَّبا" نجاحًا جماهيريًا باهرًا، وتصدرت قائمة أفضل المبيعات في النمسا وألمانيا.
رُشحت الرواية للجائزة الألمانية للكتاب عام 2006.
وحُوّلت أكثر من مرة إلى مسرحية، وتُرجمت إلى العديد من اللغات.
Book Description
«الأمواج السبعة» رواية للكاتب النمسوي دانيل غلاتاور، ترجمها إلى العربية عن الألمانية محمود حسنين وصدرت عن مشروع «كلمة» للترجمة. «الأمواج السبعة» هي الجزء الثاني من رواية «نسيم الصبا» التي صدرت ترجمتها في «كلمة» في عام 2015. في هذا الجزء، أحيا دانيل غلاتاور فن الرواية الرسائلية في زي جديد يتناسب وروح العصر؛ إذ اختار الرسالة الإلكترونية قالباً لسرد قصة حب على نحو مشوق وغير مألوف. وجاءت الرواية في نحو 1500 رسالة لا يتخللها أي تعليق أو وصف أو شرح من المؤلف. فلا يعلم القارئ من الأحداث إلاّ ما يكتبه بطلا الرواية في الرسائل المتبادلة بينهما. وتبدأ الأحداث عندما تصل إلى ليو لَايْكَه رسائل إلكترونية عدة عن طريق الخطأ من سيدة لا يعرفها تُدعى إيمي روتنر، فيرد عليها من باب الأدب. تشعر إيمي بالانجذاب إليه، فتكتب له. وسرعان ما تتطور العلاقة بينهما، ويبدو أن لقاءهما على أرض الواقع مسألة وقت، ولكن اللقاء يتأجل المرة بعد الأخرى. يواصل غلاتاور في «الأمواج السبعة» سرد قصة الحب الفريدة بين إيمي روتنر وليو لايكه معتمدًا على التقنية نفسها. وإذا كان القارئ قد طالع «نسيم الصبا» وانتهى به الرأي إلى أن ليو وإيمي لا بد أن يلتقيا على أرض الواقع، وأن قصتهما تستحق نهاية مختلفة، فإنه سيجدها في هذه الرواية. أما إذا لم يكن من قراء «نسيم الصبا»، فإنه يعرف كل ما يجب معرفته من خلال رسائل إيمي وليو.
