المسابقات والالعاب الصغيرة هى تمارين مناسبة للمبتدئين واللاعبين الكبار معا, وبها يمكن ان نتقدم بمقدرة الجسم الحركية, والمهارية, وكذلك الخططية, وترقى الفرد بأن يعمل عملا مثمرا لصالح الجماعة.
وقد حاولت جهدى عند عمل هذا الكتاب ان أضمنه تدريبات وألعاب تمهيدية تخدم الألعاب الشائعة فى جمهورية مصر العربية والبلاد العربية الشقيقة, على هيئة مسابقات والعاب صغيرة يؤديها اللاعب بدرجة كبيرة من الحماس.
وقد روعى فى وضع هذه الالعاب والمسابقات ان تعطى للتقدم باللعبة الكبيرة لان بها ترابطا للمسابقة ومتدرجة بتفكير اللاعب فى لعبته بالتدريج. كما انه يحتوى على خمسون تدريبا حديثا بإستعمال الكرات الطبية والحبال واكياس الرمل والمقاعد السويدية وعقل الحائط لتنمية القدرة الحركية (اللياقة البدنية) للاعبين التى تقوى مجموعات العضلات المساعدة على السرعة وفى هذه التدريبات تجعل لاعبى (كرة القدم – السلة –الطائرة –اليد –الهوكى –الملاكمة –العاب القوى –المصارعة –السياحة... الخ) ذوى لياقة تامة يمتلكون مستوى عال من الكفاءة الوظيفية والنفسية.
ويحتوى كذلك الكتاب على العاب رجبى اللمس –كرة السرعة –كرة القدم –الكرة الناعمة –تنس المضرب الخشبى –الريشة الطائرة وتنس الحلقة. وقد ضمنت كتابى هذا فص عن طريقة اعداد الملاعب سواء أكانت خضراء أو ملاعب مدكوكة وطريقة صيانتها.
