إن مادفعنا لتأليف هذا الكتاب هو الرغبة الأكيدة في تبني مفهوم القيادة التربوية في مؤسساتنا التربوية بدءاً من وزارات التربية ومن ثم إدارات التعليم والمدارس بمختلف مراحلها الإبتدائية والثانوية والمهنية ومعاهد التعليم في البلدان العربية وذلك لما لهذا المفهوم وتطبيقاته من دور أكيد في تحسين وتطوير العملية التربوية بأكملها. وسنحاول في هذا الكتاب تسليط الضوء على مفهوم القيادة التربوية وإختلافها عن الإدارة التربوية وما هي نظريات ونماذج القيادة التربوية وخصائص القائد التربوي الناجح ومن ثم تحديد وظائف القائد التربوي في تطوير الرؤية التربوية العامة ومن ثم صياغة الأهداف التربوية الإستراتيجية ووضع الخطة الإستراتيجية التربوية والرقابة على تنفيذها. إن القائد التربوي يحتاج إلى تطوير قدراته بصورة مستمرة ولذلك فقد أفردنا فصلاً خاصاً يتناول تطوير وتنمية مهارات القيادة من خلال تحديد الفجوة المعرفية للقائد وتطوير البرامج التدريبية المناسبة ومن ثم البدء بعملية التطوير التي تشمل القائد والبيئة التربوية معاً. لقد لعبت المتغيرات السياسية والإقتصادية دوراً كبيراً في تزايد الحاجة للقائد التربوي على مستوى المدارس خصوصاً، فظهر مفهوم قيادة الأزمة التربوية ليوضح الدور الكبير الذي يمكن أن يلعبه القائد التربوي في التقليل من الخسائر المادية والبشرية أثناء الأزمات بمختلف أنواعها وعليه ولأهمية الموضوع في بيئتنا التربوية العربية حاولنا تغطية قيادة الأزمات التربوية في فصل كامل لتوفير الأرضية المناسبة لتطبيق آليات إدارة الأزمة بكفاءة وفاعلية في مدارسنا وبما يقلل من الخسائر في الأرواح وفي البنية التحتية التربوية. كما خصصنا فصلاً كاملاً لتحديد دور القائد في إيجاد نظام معلومات تربوي متكامل يخدم من خلاله النظام التربوي، وبما يعزز من فاعلية العملية التربوية في مستوياتها كافة. أخيراً حاولنا إستعراض معايير التربوية كما قدمتها لجنة المجلس الوطني للقيادة الإدارية في الولايات المتحدة الأميريكية لعام 2008 لتكون أساسأ لتطوير ممارسات القيادة التربوية في المؤسسات التربوية.
