رواية لماتشادو دى أسيس الذى ظل شبه مجهول فى العالم العربى رغم مكانته العالية فى الأدب البرازيلى الحديث وآداب اللغة البرتغالية الحديثة بوجه عام, ورغم أهميته التى لا جدال فيها كروائى عالمى. بعد بداية أحداث الرواية بقرابة أربعين سنة يعود بطل أو بالأحرى "لابطل" الرواية إلى تلك الأحداث ليحكى - نافخا الحياة فى الأيام الخوالى - قصة تحوله من الصبى العاشق بنتو إلى الكهل المنعزل المنسحب المنزوى دون كازمورُو. قصة تحول صبى عاشق للحياة انتصر على تحالف سلطة الأسرة وسلطة أيديولوجيا الدين ليواجه تحالفا جديدا ضده. هذه الرواية الصادرة فى 1900 نقراها الان فتصدمنا بجدتها, بحداثتها, بعصريتها, كشكل لرواية. هى رواية ذكرى إستباقا لبروست فى "البحث عن الزمن الضائع" ,هى رواية ساخرة مقسمة إلى فصول قصيرة للغاية, ومن خلال حديث متصل مع القارىء دون كازمورٌو رواية تراجيكوميدية. وهى رواية ساخرة .. فأنت تقرأ ملهاة تستدرجك شيئا فشيئا إلى أن تجد نفسك فى قلب المأساة. ورغم أن المأساة ستبقى فى صميم قلبك, ستضحك من كل قلبك. فهل لنا أن نأمل أن تحتل شخصية أدبية تحمل إسم دون كازمورٌو المكان الذى يليق بها فى لغتنا إلى جانب شخصيات لامعة تحمل نفس اللقب: دون جوان, دون كيخوته !؟
