إن هذا الكتاب «أسس كيمياء الكم- النظرية والتطبيق» الذي أقدمنا على تأليفه لطلبة الصفوف الرابعة في كليات التربية والعلوم وكذلك طلبة الدراسات العليا في مادة كيمياء الكم، جاء نتيجة لخبرة تدريسية للموضوع امتدت زهاء خمس عشرة سنة لطلبة الصف الرابع والدراسات العليا. ومن هذه الخبرة التدريسية في هذا الموضوع، تعد مادة كيمياء الكم من أصعب الموضوعات على طالب الكيمياء وذلك لاعتمادها الكلي على مادتي الرياضيات والفيزياء تناول الفصل الأول: من الكتاب خلفية تاريخية والأسس التجريبية التي أدت إلى بناء النظرية الكمية بالتفصيل الدقيق، ومعززاً بالرسوم والأشكال البيانية. ويشمل الفصل الثاني: مناقشة حركة الموجة بإسهاب، واشتقاق المعادلة لحركة الموجة والتي تعد بأنها المعادلة الأساس في اشتقاق معادلة «شرويدنكر»، حيث عرضت مادتي الفصلين الأول والثاني في كتابنا هذا لأول مرة بهذا الشكل المفصل، إن هذين الفصلين يجعلان إدارك الطالب لتفهم النظرية الكمية سهلاً جداً. يتضمن الكتاب اثني عشر فصلاً، وقد خُصّص فصل كامل (الفصل السابع) لمناقشة الزخم الزاوي والبرمي في ميكانيك الكم بصورة موسعة لأهميته القصوى في هذا الخصوص، كما ويشمل الفصل التاسع مناقشة الطرق التقريبية في ميكانيك الكم ويتضمن أمثلة محلولة حلاً نموذجياً. كما وأوردنا خلال فصول الكتاب أكثر من ستة وعشرين تمريناً محلولاً حلاً نموذجياً تقود الطالب إلى تفهم المادة بصورة جيدة، ويعد كتابنا هذا الأول بشموله لتمارين محلولة. ولقد عملنا جاهدين على إجراء وتبسيط كافة الاشتقاقات الرياضية المتعلقة بمادة الكتاب ومتابعتها بالتفصيل وبدقة متناهية لكي تساعد الطالب على متابعة المادة ولا تشكل العقبة الرئيسة أمامه في هذا الموضوع وعدم متابعته له.
