إذا كانت العلوم المختلفة - من أدب، وبلاغة، وأسلوبية، وعلم اتصال، ومعلوماتية وغيرها - معنية بوصف النصوص من زوايا واتجاهات متباينة، فإن علم لغة النص ينبغي أن يركز على أبنية النص وجزئياته، والشروط المتعلقة بالسياقات المتعددة، ومن ثم فهو يعالج الظواهر التركيبية والدلالية التي لم تفسر في نحو الجملة تفسيراً كافياً أو مقنعاً.
الباب الأول عنوانه (علم لغة النص) ويشتمل على أربعة فصول: الفصل الأول: لغة النص ومعاييرها بين القدماء والمحدثين، الفصل الثاني: السبك وعناصره بين القدماء والمحدثين، الفصل الثالث: الحبك وعلاقاته بين القدماء والمحدثين، الفصل الرابع: دراسة تطبيقية (التحليل النصي للخطابة النبوية نموذجاً).
أما الباب الثاني فعنوانه (علم الاسلوب) ويشتمل على ثلاثة فصول هي: الفصل الأول: علم الأسلوب اتجاهاته ومناهجه بين القدماء والمحدثين، الفصل الثاني: العدول الأسلوبي في الخطاب القرآني، الفصل الثالث: داراسة تطبيقية للتحليل الأسلوبي (سورة يوسف نموذجاً) ، ثم ختمت الدراسة بقائمة المصادر والمراجع التي اعتمدت عليها مع فهرست الكتاب.
