إذا دخل الاستبداد من الباب، هربت الحرية والكرامة والأمن وحقوق الإنسان من النافذة، لأن الاستبداد لا يدخل وحده، وإنما يصحبه الارهاب والبطش والترويع، عندئذ يتحول الناس إلى كائنات هلامية، حسبهم من الحياة أن يعيشوها فى سكون، وأن ينتهى بقاؤهم فيها دون ان يمسهم طائف من العذاب، أنها حياة أشبه بحياة القطيع ليس فيها من النشاط الإنسانى سوى إشباع الغرائز، أما اشباع العقل وغذاء الروح والارتقاء بالتفكير، فكلها أنشطة تخضع لسيطرة المستبد الذى يسعده ان تتحول الرعية إلى إمعات معدومة الشخصية، حيث تميل الريح، ولا تسبح أبداً ضد التيار، والحرية معاناة وممارسة، وشقاء وعذاب، ولكى تتذوق حلاوة الحرية لا بد أن تدفع مهرها، فالحلاوة التى بلا نار لم تخلق بعد.
ولست هنا لأروى قصص الأبطال الذين ضحوا بحياتهم من أجل الحرية، ولكنى أتحدث عن الحرية كما ينبغى أن يمارسها كل أنسان دون أن يكون بطلاً أو شهيداً، حقك فى تعيش حراً فى مجتمع حر، تعبر عن رأيك دون أن تخشى الملام، حقك فى أن تمارس حريتك السياسية، وحريتك الأقتصادية، وحقك أن تختار الحاكم وتنتقده وتحاسبه إذا أخطأ، وتُغيره إذا خرح على حدود العدل والانصاف، لم تقدم الانسانية ظهور ناس شرفاء ينتصرون للخير ويقفون إلى جانب العدل، ويحتقرون الظلم، أولئك هم المفكرون الاحرار الذين كانوا يجهرون بالحق، ويؤلبونهم على كل مظاهر الفحش، والفجور التى يمارسها الطغاة بمساعدة المأجورين من رجال الدين والسياسة.
