التفتت بوجهها إلى المدينة من حولها .. تذكرت قصصاً قديمة في كتب التاريخ عنها وعن أهلها .. أولئك الذين قالوا للإسلام أتينا طائعين .. يحكي جدارها القديم حكاية هؤلاء .. انتبهت إلى أحمد وهو يقول: بيت جدتك كما وصفت لي يقع قرب النهر .. ثم تلفت حوله وقال: هذه مدينة رائعة .. أشعر بها تقول لا ابتسمت على تعليقه الذي قاله واستمعت لزوجته تقول: نعم .. تقول لا للموت .. ثمة شئ يسكن في النفوس إذا التقت على فكرة واحدة .. رؤية واحدة .. ألفة عجيبة .. دعت أم نعمان لتقول: كأنكم جميعاً نشأتم بها.. ضحك أحمد: بل كبرنا فيها .. وصلينا في مساجدها .. وتعلمنا فيها .. وحاربنا فيها .. ضحكت يمان: كأن الحرب جزء من أنفسكم لا يغادركم .. قال: الحرب حياة يا أخية .. حياة .. الدماء التي تسيل تحيي الأرض .. تجعلها أكثر قيمة .. لقد سكنها جزء سماوي .. فالشهيد عندما يذهب يكون قبل موته قد استحال شيئاً سماوياً تماماً .. لا علاقة له بالأرض
