يبدأ كتب "طريق حياة" بعرض وجهات نظر وآراء روجرز حول الإتصال. قليلة هي الأشياء التي كان يعتبرها روجرز في أهمية الإتصال الصريح والدقيق، الذي يهدف لطرح المشاعر والأحاسيس بأمانة ودقة. كان يتبع كل إنطلاقة نحو الخير والإقناع ويرفض كل النزاعات التي تهدف للإغواء والمداورة والخلط. بشكل ما فإن هذا يجعل مهمة تقديم الكتاب نوع من الفذلكة، ورغم أن قلة هي التي تستحق التقديم فإن روجرز أقل من يحتاجه، وكما سيرى القارئ فإن روجرز لا يحتاج لتقديم،لأنه يتكلم عن ذاته ويتكلم بصراحة ووضوح مذهلين.
