بالوقوف مع إحدى قصص مجموعته التي تم وضع عنوانها على المجموعة كلها نجد أن بطلها شخصية تتحدث عن جانب من حياتها مستخدمة ضمير الـ (أنا) ؛ فهي قصة سيرة ذاتية – إلى حد كبير – تنطلق من قيمة دلالية أساسية تتمثل في (المسئولية) (8) التي تحملها البطل صغيراً بعد غياب عائل الأسرة بالوفاة (الأب) ، فكان عليه أن يواصل طريقه في الحياة متحملاً مسئولية جماعة وجد نفسه راعياً لها ؛ ومن ثم فإن أول فكرة تطرحها هذه القصة هي فكرة الغياب والحضور؛ فحضور الأب كان يعني غياب المسئولية عن الابن وبغيابه فرضت المسئولية نفسها عليه ، ومن هذه اللحظة بدأت رحلة البطل بحثاًعن الرزق (العمل) ، هذه الرحلة توازي في مدلولها العام رحلة الذات الإنسانية – بصفة عامة – داخل الحياة التي تطرح عليها مواقف وشخصيات وأمكنة في ضوء منظومة تقوم على طرفين لا ينعزل أحدهما عن الآخر هما: التأثير والتأثر؛ فالبطل يقدم عبر صوته جانباً من الموقف الذي مر به في عمله مركزاً على بعض شخصياته ألا وهي المرأة العجوز وابنتها (الفتاة) اللتان كانتا تقومان على خدمته خلال إشرافه على عمال يقومون بحفر أحد المصارف ، فبدأ يتعامل مع الموقف في ظل هاتين الشخصيتين من منظور داخلي يقوم على كشف اللثام عن انفعالاته (المكنون العاطفي) تجاههمها ، وبالمثل ما يفترض أنهما يحدثان نفسيهما به تجاهه وتجاه ما يصدر عنه من أفعال.. وقد كان تركيزه بدرجة أكبر على الفتاة التي استعان ببعض مفردات البيئة الريفية وهو يقوم بوصفها.
