يعرض الكتاب للسؤال التقليدي حول مدي صحة الصورة التي رسمها أفلاطون ويقدم حلا لإشكالية الصراع بين العلمانية والدين. يشابه بين آراء سقراط الأخلاقية والدينية عن علاقة الإنسان بالله وبالآخرين وتلك الأفكار التي وردت في الكتابات البوذية والكونفشيوسية والكتاب المقدس والقرآن الكريم . فكان سقراط نبيا وفيلسوفا. يري أن سعادة الإنسان في إيمانه اولا واتخاذ التفلسف منهجا لحياته . ويشكل إدراك الإنسان لنقصه المعرفي وجهله بداية طريق التفاف الحياة السعيدة. ليس نقض اليقين مرضا وإنما النفور من التفكير وكراهيته والقفز إلي النتائج يٌعد من أخطر الأمراض التي تواجه البشرية ، ولا يمكن أن نشفي في هذه الأمراض التي تواجه البشرية إلا بالتفلسف والإيمان . ويقترح الحوار الفلسفي دينا عالميا .
