من ولد علي بن المهدي العباسي، شاعر كبير، من أهل بغداد.
له (ديوان شعر) في اربعة مجلدات يربو على خمسين ألف بيت.
وهو صاحب البيت: جاء الشتاء وعندي من حوائجه

إن لشعر ابن سكرة الهاشمي قيمته الأدبية، وهو مفيد أيضًا لمن يروم التأريخ للأخلاقيات، وقصائده تلقي الضوء على جانب من جوانب الحياة في بغداد في زمانه -غالبًا تم التستر عليها، ويمكن للمؤرخين أن يجدوا في مجون ابن سكرة الكثير مما أهمله ساردوا أحداث الحقبة البويهية.
