إن التكنولوجيا تواجه مشكلات حقيقية في ميدان التعليم، وما زالت المشكلات هي الإعتقاد بأن الأجهزة التعليمية فقط هي تكنولوجيا التعليم، وعليه فقد أدخلت أعداداً هائلة من الأجهزة التعليمية وأصيب التربويون بخيبة أمل بعد أن عجزت هذه الأجهزة عن حل أي مشكلة تعليمية، ونفس خيبة الأمل هذه قد اعترف بها التربويون في ألمانيا، ولكنهم هناك تنبهوا للخطأ الذي وقعوا فيه، وعلى نفس المنوال حدث ذلك كثيراً في البلدان المتقدمة الأخرى، وبسبب اختلاط المفاهيم بين النظم كفلسفة وبين الأساليب المتبعة في تطبيقها، فان هذا الكتاب محاولة لتوضيح الفرق بين النظام والأسلوب، ومحاولة للإسهام في وضوح الرؤية حول نظم وأساليب التعليم لتطبيقات التطوير، وإلقاء الضوء على مواطن الغموض واللبس المسببة لقصور التطبيق.
