نوعٌ جديد من الكتابة الروائية، تشجعنا كالنداهّة على دخول عوالمها في خضم رائع، أدهم العبودي ملك التفاصيل يسير سيرًا حثيثًا نحو الإجادة التامة، رواية تمتلئ بأصواتٍ عدّة، تركّز على علاقة ماهو مسيحي بما هو مسلم مختلطة بالتحول الذي يفعله الزمن ببعض المصائر خارج هذه العلاقة، حيث تتعقَّد المصائر وتتشكَّل في رويّة ... .. من الرواية: وكانت الأيام تجري، دون أن أعتدّ بها، وغبار السنوات لم يُفصح لي عن الشعر الأبيض الذي جرى في رأسي، أول الأشياء التي أشعرتني بركض الزمن، كان المعلم "شحاتة" صاحب الدكان، فقد بدا لي فجأة طاعناً في السن، وقتها كان قد تجاوز الستين، وكان الوقت نهاراً، وأنا أرش المياه أمام الدكان لخلق طراوة في الجو، كان هو منكفئاً فوق دراجة، وياقة الجلباب منحسرة إلى ما بعد الرقبة، فجأة رحت أتأمّله، وقد ظهرت حول عنقه تجاعيد متشابكة، طلعت بعيني التائهة نحو خدّه، وكان قد "تكرمّش" وتعبّأ ببقع بنية داكنة كعلامات للشيخوخة، تسمّرت أمامه لبعض الوقت، ولم أنتبه لخرطوم المياه الذي تتدفّق من فمه نافورة مزبدة أغرقت أرض الشارع، إنّما انتبه هو لوقفتي غير المفسَّرة واستدار نحوي وزعق بصوت مبحوح: - مالك متحنّط؟ اخلص "سيب" الخرطوم من يدك، الشارع غرق يا حمار. وربما لأول مرّة حينها رنّت في أذني نبرته الآمرة المستخفة، أقفلت صنبور المياه، وتوجّهت إلى "محمود" الحلاّق، كان دكانه ملاصقاً لنا، وكان المعلم "شحاتة" ينادي عليّ بصوت مستغرب: - أين ذاهب يا بهيم؟ لكن بوعي سيطرت عليه رائحة "الكُلّة" تجاهلت صوته، ودلفت إلى دكان "محمود"، لا أعرف أيّ هوّس لفّ عقلي حينها؟
