يتناول هذا الكتاب ميدان التربية المقارنة من حيث أصولها النظرية وتجاربها العالمية. وهو بهذا يجمع بين الجانبين النظري والتطبيقي في الميدان وهو ينقسم إلى بابين رئيسيين: الباب الأول عن الأصول النظرية، وهو يتكون من أربعة فصول تتناول التربية المقارنة من حيث تعريفها وأهدافها وتطورها ومناهجها. كما يتناول العوامل المؤثرة في تشكيل النظم التعليمية وأساليب تصنيفها.
أما الباب الثاني فيتعلق بالتجارب العالمية في ميدان التربية المقارنة، وهو يتكون من ثلاثة فصول، فصل منها يتناول تجارب الدول الغربية في التعليم وإعداد المعلم، وهذه الدول هي: الولايات المتحدة الأميركية والاتحاد السوفيتي سابقاً وإنجلترا وفرنسا. وفصل آخر يتناول تجارب الدول العربية، وفصل آخر يتناول تجارب الدول الآسيوية في التعليم وهذه الدول هي: اليابان والصين الشعبية والصين والوطنية (تايوان) وكوريا الشمالية وكوريا الجنوبية، وهذا الجزء من الكتاب يعتبر إضافة جديدة للمكتبة العربية، ويهم هذا الكتاب المهتمين بالتربية بصفة عامة والتربية المقارنة بصفة خاصة من أكاديميين وعلماء وباحثين ومر بين وممارسين ودارسين.
