يعرض هذا الكتاب جانبا عمليا وآخر علمي، حيث يتناول في بابه الأول عدة فصول تتناول الجانب العلمي من خلال طرحه موضوعات نشوء الخلايا الدموية وأطوارها واستقلاب الحديد والهيموجلوبين وإشكال الخلايا الحمراء وتعريف فقر الدم وانواعه وتشخيصه وفقر دم الخلايا الحمراء غير الطبيعة المنجلي والثلاسيميا الجذعي السيروبلاستي، وتعريف احمرار الدم، ويعرض الكتاب أيضا الخلايا البيضاء بنوع من التفصيل من خلال طرحه لأنواعها ونشوءها وخصائصها وأشكالها والعدد الكلي للخلايا البيضاء والعد النسبي والمطلق والأمراض المرتبطة بالخلايا البيضاء وإرقاء الدم والأمراض النازفة. ويتناول الكتاب في الباب الثاني تطبيقات عملية لعلم الدم من خلال عدة فصول تتمثل بسحب عينات الدم من الأوعية الشعرية والأوردة وموانع التجلط وتحضير البلازما وعد الخلايا الدموية وتحضير عينات الدم المصبوغة وغيرها من التطبيقات الهامة وينتهي الكتاب في الباب الثالث من خلال إيراده عدد من الملاحق المتمثلة بسوائل الأغشية المخاطية وسائل النخاع الشوكي والسوائل المفصلية والسائل الرهلي وغيرها من الملاحق.
