اوقفني موقف التأهب وقال لي، اكتب، أقول يارب (وهو أعلم بما أقول) كيف أكتب وأنا على ما أنا عليه، يقول اكتب، أقول يارب (وهو أعلم بما أقول)، كيف أقتفي أثر الجميلات وأنا حتى الآن لم أدخل في علاقة، اي علاقة، يقول اكتب، اقول يارب، كيف اكتب رواية عن الجميلات وأنا- وأنت اعلم- لم أمارس الجنس حتى الآن، ولا مرة واحدة، يقول اكتب، أنت عليك الكتابة وأنا على البلاغ، ألم تقرأ ما كتبه عبدي أينشتين من قبل، الخيال أقوى من المعرفة، فتنت بهذا الكتاب الصغير الجميل، وامتلأ قلبي بالسرور أن أديبًا مصريًا جديدًا ظهر ولمع وعلى وشك تحقيق نجاح جماهيري، كنت قد قرأت لـ" طلال فيصل" من قبل ديوانًا صغيرًا من الشعر أعجبت به أيضًا، فأقبلت على روايته الجديدة بأمل أن يتأكد إعجابي، فحدث ما توقعت وأكثر، فتنتني في الكتاب عدة أشياء: الجرأة في التعبير عن المشاعر الحقيقية، مهما يكن التعبير عنها غير مألوف، وإحساس عميق بالمشاعر المشتركة بين الناس رغم تظاهر الكثيرين بتفردهم واختلافهم عن الباقين، والقدرة على نقل صورة حقيقية لمشاعر شريحة كبرى من الصبية والشباب المصريين (أم أقول كلهم؟) نحو الجنس الآخر، وما تخلقه التقاليد المصرية من حواجز مانعة للتعبير العفوي عن هذه المشاعر وخلال كل ذلك مرح وخفة ظل وسخرية لا تشوبها أي مرارة بل وتختلط بتعاطف حقيقي مع الناس، كل هذا جعلني أقرأ الكتاب بتشوق حقيقي للعبارة التالية ثم للفصل التالي، وبسرور لم ينته بانتهاء الكتاب، مما قوى في نفسي الأمل بأن هناك في مصر اليوم شبابًا موهوبًا سوف يصنعون بلاشك نهضة ثقافية قريبة.
