حُكي والله أعلم في غيبه وأحكم فيما مضى وسلف من أحاديث الأمم السابقة، رحمهم الله، أنه كان في مدينة زبيد باليمن رجل تاجر وكان بالقرب منه تاجر آخر من أكابر التجار وله بنت جميلة مليحة فرآها ذلك التاجر فهويها وتولع بحبها وزاد به الأمر فأرسل إلى أبيها يخطبها فأبى، فحمل عليه كل من في ذلك البلد فلم يفعل، فدخل على أمير البلد وارماء عليه فلم يفعل ذلك، وكلما زاد فيها رغبة زاد أبوها فيه قسوة.
