الحقيقة الإجتماعية للتربية ما زالت، في إطار خصوصيتها العربية، تعاني من الغموض المعرفي، وهذا يعني أننا مطالبون اليوم أكثر من أي وقت آخر، بتطوير الدراسات والأبحاث ودفعها في ميدان علم الاجتماع التربوي لاستجلاء الحقيقة الاجتماعية للتربية وبناء الوعي التربوي العربي المتكامل. ومن أجل أن نضع في أيدي طربنا صورة علمية لمناحي هذا الفرع العلمي واتجاهاته يأتي ذلك العمل المتواضع، وهي محاولة نأمل لها أن تكون أكثر غنى وتطوراً من المحاولات السابقة التي سجلت في هذا الميدان، ومن أجل إعداد هذا العمل، تحولنا في الحقول العالمية لذلك الاختصاص، وحاولنا أن نقدم من كل حقل باقة جميلة من معطياته وثماره. وحاولنا في إطار هذا العمل أن نجمع بين أمرين أساسيين ونكامل بينهما، هما: أن يكون ما يقدم عبر الفصول والمحطات المتلاحقة قادراً على تلبية حاجة الطلاب في مراحل دراستهم الجامعية من جهة، وتوخينا أن يجد فيه القارئ المتخصص بعض حوافز العمل على تطوير ما جاء على متن مقولاته من أفكار وآراء من جهة أخرى، ونحن نأمل أن يؤدي هذا الجهد المتواضع غايته في تعريف القارئ بمجالات علم الاجتماع التربوي المتعددة، وبالمسائل التي يطرحها في مجال العلاقة بين المجتمع والتربية، كما نأمل أيضاً أن نلقي الضوء علة ملامح التوجهات المنهجية والتجاهات انظرية لهذا الفرع العلمي.
