فواز طرابلسي (1941- ) أستاذ جامعي ومؤرخ لبناني. كان مع أحمد بيضون ووضاح شرارة من أبرز قيادي حركة لبنان الاشتراكي التي اندمجت سنة 1970 مع منظمة الاشتراكيين اللبنانيين لتشكل منظمة العمل الشيوعي في لبنان. أصبح طرابلسي نائبا للأمين العام للمنظمة ثم أحد أبرز وجوه الحركة الوطنية اللبنانية. غادر المنظمة سنة 1984 وذهب إلى باريس لمواصلة دراسته. يحمل دكتوراه في التاريخ من جامعة باريس. شغل منصب رئيس تحرير جريدة الحرية ومجلة بيروت المساء.

يفصح عنوان هذه المجموعة عن محتواها: الديموقراطية عملية تحويل جذرية للمجتمع من حيث طبيعة السلطة فيه وعلاقات القوى بين مكوناته. يعالج هذا الكتاب موضوع التحويل الديموقراطي في عالمنا العربي في قسمين: يضم القسم الأول "دراسات ومقالات تتناول المقارنة التاريخية بين التجربتين الغربية والعربية، والنقد الفكري، والعلاقة بين الحرية والمساواة، وبين النفط والإستبداد والديموقراطية، والعروبة والديموقراطية". ويتكون القسم الثاني من "متابعات للعمليات الثورية الديموقراطية الجارية في عدد من البلاد العربية منذ مطلع 2010". وقد أهدى "طرابلسي" كتابه هذا إلى ذكر المناضلين اليمني "جار الله عمر" و"عبد الرحمن النعيمي" اللذين يعاني بلداهما من أزمة ديموقراطية وإنتفاضة على الأزمة.
