هذا كتابٌ منهجي فيه خلاصة فنّية شاملة لأهمّ مباحث علم البلاغة العربية؛ فقد احتوى على مادة نظرية وتطبيقية متنوّعة تلائم طلاب الدراسات الجامعية الأولى، وجميع المهتمين بتنمية مهارات اللغة العربية في مجالات الفهم والكتابة والتذوّق والإبداع الفنّي. ولتحقيق هذا الهدف الأساسي اتّبع مؤلّف هذا الكتاب منهجاً علميّاً قائماً على تهذيبِ المسائلِ، وتيسير المصطلحات، وطَرْحِ المسائل الكلامية والفلسفية، وغيرها من المسائل التي عَلِقَتْ بالبلاغة العربية القديمة، وحاول أن يجعله قريبَ التناول، سهلَ الفهم، جامعًا بين الفائدة العلمية والمتعة الأدبية، وقد اتُّـبِعَ في تأليفه نهج الدرس البلاغي القديم، بالمحافظة على أبواب العلم المعروفة في ترتيبها وتبويبها، والإكثار من التطبيقات العملية من خلال النصوص القرآنية والشعرية والنثرية، وفي الكتاب– أيضاً- إشارات مقتضبة إلى بعض القضايا الأسلوبية الحديثة، ومحاولة ربطها بنظريات البلاغة التقليدية، كلّ ذلك من أجل تنمية الذوق الفني عند الطالب، وتطوير مهاراته المعرفية والإبداعية
