في مجموعته الشعرية "لا الأرض أمي .. ولا القبيلة والدي" يمتد الشاعر عبد اللطيف بن يوسف بمحاورة الذات كاشفاً عن عمق الهوة بين ذاته المفكرة وبين ذاته اللاواعية والتي تكونت عبر مسيرته في الحياة حيث أن الذات الداخلية هي انعكاسات غير شرطية لكل الظروف التي يعيشها الإنسان كما أكد دي سوسير (أن البنية اللاشعور هي بنية لغوية تحاكي اللغة الواعية أو لغو الشعور الظاهر) فكلما ازداد الإنسان معرفة ازداد فهمه لشروطه الذاتية ومعرفة وعيه بهذه الشروط، وهو ما ينطبق تماماً على نص الشاعر عبد اللطيف بن يوسف وفلسفته الشعرية التي يرجع فيها إلى عمل العقل في عتمة اللاوعي.
في (غيمة العمر) يقول: "... ما أصدق الظنّ / شك لا يقين به / لولاه ما أصبح الإشراق في الصدر / مللت أنزع مني / كل أقنعتي / فأين وجهي / بين الكسر والجبر / عبد اللطيف أما زالت لديك يد / تغازل الصفحة البيضاء بالشعر / عبد اللطيف مضى فينا الزمان / ولم نعرف من البحر / إلا شاطىء البحر ! / مخرتُ فيك عُباب المستحيل / هوى يغري الزمان / بآيات من العطر ! (...) هذي الطريق ضياعٌ / لا وصول لها إلا إلى الماء / فاتبع غيمة القطر". وبهذا فنحن أمام شاعر يعرف أين ينقل حواره مع الذات بحوار مفتوح، فهو يريد اكتشاف العالم من خلال اكتشافه عالمه الداخلي وهو ما أبدع في إبرازه في معظم النصوص.
يضم الكتاب (26) قصيدة في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "سؤال الرمل" ، "وحيداً كما ينبغي" ، "محطات الرحيل" ، "أمام البئر رقم 1" ، "غيمة العمر" ، "الوجع الفصيح" ... وقصائد أخرى.
