في هذا الكتاب صفحات من مناهج السيناريو والأخراج والمونتاج المكتوبة في المدرسة العربية للسينما والتليفزيون التابعة لصندوق التنمية الثقافية - وزارة الثقافة المصرية www.arabfilmtvschool.edu.eg وهو أول موقع عربي لتعليم فنون السينما والتليفزيون عن بُعد موجه لجميع الناطقين باللغة العربية في العالم.
فالمعروف أن هناك عدد قليل جداً من المعاهد في البلدان العربية التي تقوم بتعليم فنون السينما والتليفزيون يستوعبون عدد قليل جداً جداً من الدارسين بالنسبة للأعداد الضخمة المتقدمة للإلتحاق بهذه المعاهد، بالإضافة إلى عدة أقسام متفرقة في الجامعات تقوم بتدريس بعض المواد السينمائية أو التليفزيونية . لذلك انحصرت الفئات المستهدفة لتدريس هذه المناهج عن بعد في:
أولا: العدد الضخم من الشباب الذين لم يوفقوا في الإلتحاق بهذه المعاهد القليلة العدد.
ثانياً: الألوف الذي تعمل فعلاً في التليفزيونات العربية وللأسف لم يحصل عدد كبير منهم على أي دراسة تؤهله لهذا العمل.
ثالثاً: لأن التدريس سيكون عن بعد إذا كانت الفئة الأخيرة المستهدفة هي العاملين فعلاً في وظائف مختلفة.
وهكذا كانت موافقة وزير الثقافة فاروق حسني على إنشاء مدرسة سينمائية وتليفزيونية إفتراضية في أي ساعة من ساعات اليوم وبدون مبنى وفصول مدرسية، إنما تصل معلومات الفنون المذكورة إلى الدارس على خطوط المودم فقط. كما أنها تحتوي على كل ما يهمه من معارف ستساعده في هذين المجالين، وتسلحه بمعلومات كافية عن النواحي الفنية والنقدية (التكنولوجية) في فنون السينما والتليفزيون.
وهكذا تقوم المدرسة بتدريس مناهج السيناريو، والإخراج، والإنتاج، والديكور، والتصوير، والمونتاج، والصوت، باستعمال الوسائط المتعددة Multimedia ، أي بالصور الثابتة Still images ، والصور المتحركة motion images والصوت Audio والنص المكتوب Text، ورسومات الكومبيوتر Computer graphics ، حتى أضمن توصيل المعلومة مبسطة إلى كل الدارسين والمهتمين بهذه الفنون سواء من المخترفين أو الهواة على حد سواء.
