يمثل هذا الكتاب صرخة علمية في علم الأمراض السيكوسوماتية في اللغة العربية، ويبرهن لأول مرة عن العلاقة الثابتة بين أمراض الجسم وأمراض النفس من خلال عرض شيق ممتع لحالات من العيادة النفسية، تتناول كل نوع من أنواع الأمراض التي تغص بها مستشفيات العالم اليوم. وتبرز أهمية هذا الكتاب، في منهجية المؤلف التي اشتهر بها في مؤلفاته العديدة فلقد تصدى المؤلف في كتابه هذا، لأمراض الجهاز الهضمي، كقرحة المعدة، والاضطرابات المعوية والهضمية، وقرحة القولون والسمنة المفرطة، باعتبارها أكثر الأمراض السيكوسوماتية انتشاراً، ويليها أمراض الأوعية الدموية والقلب وضغوطاته وعصابه. كما أنه تصدى أيضاً لأمراض الجهاز التنفسي كالربو والسل الرئوي وحمى القش وإصابات البرد المعتادة، باعتبارها أمراضاً نفسجسمية، وكذلك للأمراض الجدية، كالأرتكاريا وحب الشباب والأكزيما والحكة، وسقوط الشعر، وطفح الجلد والتهاباته. كذلك خصص الكتاب فصلاً متميزاً لاضطرابات الهرمونية والغدد ودور الخوف فيها. وتناول المؤلف مشاكل الاضطرابات البولية والتناسلية والحركية والعصبية ونوعيات الصداع، موضحاً أيضاً أمراض العصر الحديث السيكوسوماتية مثل: سكر الدم - السرطان، والصداع النصفي وغيرها. ولعل قيمة هذا الكتاب تتحدد لدى الأطباء والممارسين والمعلمين، والباحثين والآباء والأمهات والأخصائيين النفسيين بالإحصائيات الحديثة المذهلة التي اشتمل عليها، وبالحالات المأخوذة من ملفات العيادة النفسية لكل مرض وتحديد سبل العلاج لكل نوع لها، بعد استعراض التعاريف والأسباب والأعراض بأسلوب علمي مبسط، مرشد هادف.
